Competencies and Succession Management

Featuring:

Melanie Serjak, Principal Consultant, Organizational Effectiveness and Strategic HR Services, Public Works and Government Services Canada

HR leaders have used competency profiles for many years, in all facets of talent management: recruitment and retention, learning and development, performance management, and of course, succession planning.

As boomers retire, continuity within key organizational positions and executive roles must be ensured as the enhanced pace of the workforce has accelerated career paths. This evolving reality has lead to a renewed focus on the role of competencies and how to develop a competency-based management framework to help solve some of the dilemmas presented by demographic change. In this session, Melanie Serjak and Christian Burrs will offer a refreshed look at competencies, impart development options and share some simple tools you can use to gain the benefits of competency-based succession planning without a huge investment of resources.
