Comerica Bank Closes Record-Breaking 2019 Shred Day Campaign

Records set for most pounds shredded and meals provided

DALLAS, December 30, 2019, /3BL Media/ – Comerica’s signature Shred Day community event experienced a banner year in 2019. The event, designed to help local communities securely shred and recycle sensitive documents for free, saw record numbers for pounds shredded and number of meals collected to aid local food pantries.

Shred Day is held in partnership with Iron Mountain and hosted across four national markets that include Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Detroit and Phoenix. This year the four events combined to shred a record 883,000 pounds of sensitive paper documents and provided food and monetary donations to supply approximately 238,000 meals.

Topping the list of records in 2019 include new marks for most paper shredded in Detroit with 110,000 pounds, most pounds of food collected in Dallas/Fort Worth with 12,700 pounds of nonperishable food items and total meals provided in Houston with 60,000.

Since the event’s inception in 2008, Shred Day has securely destroyed more than 5.7 million pounds of sensitive documents and provided more than 1.2 million meals for local food pantries.
