Booz Allen Data Scientists Challenge the Global Data Science Community to Change the World
Last week, Booz Allen Hamilton and Kaggle announced the kick-off of the second annual Data Science Bowl. This year’s challenge calls on the global data science community to create a set of steps, or algorithms, to help transform diagnosis of heart disease. By putting data science to work in the cardiology field, data scientists can empower doctors to help people live longer and spend more time with those that they love.

Just in time for #GivingTuesday, Booz Allen Hamilton has launched its annual employee-led toy drive to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Since 1991 Booz Allen employees have supported Toys for Tots in its mission to distribute toys to children who may not otherwise receive a gift.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Director Praises Data Science Bowl
As Booz Allen gears up for the second Data Science Bowl (DSB), Dr. Bob Cowen, Director of Hatfield Marine Science Center, said he’d participate again “in a heartbeat.” Cowen said, “The algorithms developed in the Data Science Bowl helped move our work ahead leaps and bounds. Without the winning algorithm from Team Deep Sea, it might have taken marine researchers more than two lifetimes to manually complete the classification process.” He added, “Just as important as the algorithm itself are the inroads the DSB made in rallying citizen scientists to work for the greater good.”
