CECP Announces Third CEO Investor Forum As Movement to End Short-termism Gains Momentum
CECP's Strategic Investor Initiative (SII) will host the third CEO Investor Forum (CIF) on February 26, 2018, at the Time Warner Center in New York City. Michael R. Bloomberg, Founder, Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies and 108th Mayor of New York City will join the invitation-only event for a 30-minute fireside chat and will offer his perspective on the need for the financial industry and the corporate sector to embrace long-term-oriented strategic planning and reporting.

Highlights From CECP CEO Investor Forum
Repeating the success of its inaugural event, CECP’s Strategic Investor Initiative (SII) held its second CEO Investor Forum on September 19, 2017 where leading cross-sector CEOs shared their long-term business plans for sustainable value creation. CEOs presented their strategies to an audience of 200 major institutional investors that represent more than $25 trillion in assets under management.

Leading CEOs Present Long-Term Business Strategies to Institutional Investors
Building off the momentum from its successful inaugural Forum in February, CECP: The CEO Force for Good will again host CEOs from leading S&P 500 companies at the September 19 CEO Investor Forum (CIF) in New York. CIF, organized by CECP’s Strategic Investor Initiative (SII), is a CEO- and investor-backed platform transforming Wall Street’s over-emphasis on short-term quarterly financial results to focus on “long-term value creation”–multi-year strategies that incorporate financial and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

Far Beyond the Quarterly Call: Research Refutes "Short-Termism"
In a paper published earlier this month in the Spring 2017 Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, Tim Youmans, Research Director, Strategic Investor Initiative, CECP, and Brian Tomlinson, Senior Research Advisor, Strategic Investor Initiative, CECP, detail how the existing structure of corporate shareholder communications encourages “short-termism,” or the narrow focus on immediate profit at the expense of long-term security. The paper summarizes the substantial evidence that corporate management, boards, and investors are concerned about the failure of quarterly earnings framework to adequately address the importance of long-term value creation.

CECP, a coalition of more than 200 of the world’s largest companies, announced that its Strategic Investor Initiative (SII) will host the second CEO Investor Forum (CIF) on September 19th, 2017, at the Bloomberg LP HQ. This invitation-only event will feature leading CEOs presenting their company’s long-term strategic plans—including operational and financial outlooks ranging three to five years or more--to an audience of 200 long-term-oriented institutional investors and pension funds, collectively representing $25 trillion in AUM. CEOs confirmed to date include: Mark Bertolini, CEO of Aetna; Michael P. Gregoire, CEO of CA Technologies; Kevin Clark, President and CEO, Delphi; Johan Dennelind, President and CEO of Telia; and Rodney O. "Rod" Martin, Chairman and CEO of Voya Financial.
