CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, April 20th:

General Mills has released its Corporate Social Responsibility Report for 2010. The reported highlights include: improvements of nearly 50 percent in the nutrition profile of its products since 2005, contributions of nearly $91 million dollars in philanthropic giving—up 4.3 percent over fiscal 2008, and new programs for trimming waste and reducing the company’s environmental footprint. This is the 40th year the company has published the report, which now includes several videos inserted throughout the electronic document.

UPS has launched a new packaging program that will assess customers’ shipments based on environmental standards. Under the Eco Responsible Packaging Program, UPS will examine packaging processes in three areas of sustainability: damage prevention, right-sizing, and packaging materials. UPS will score the results, and those customers who meet the requirements can display the program’s logon on their shipment.
