CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, May 3rd:

Bagir, an apparel manufacturer known for its high-tech, eco-friendly innovations, has announced its membership in the U.N. Global Compact. As a condition of joining up, the Israeli-based company has published its first Communication on Progress report, which describes the development of reduced carbon footprint “Ecogir,” a tailored suit technology that uses post-consumer recycled plastics. The U.N. Global Compact is an international network of over 5,000 companies, NGOS, trade unions, and UN agencies that support 10 principles on the environment, labor, and human rights.

The third annual Corporate Responsibility Salary survey has been released by Acre Resources. The survey, compiled from responses by 600 CR professional worldwide, reveals that the most active areas of CR work are reporting and performance measurement, for both in-house employees and consultants. Other insights include findings that women working in CR outnumber men two to one; that a growing number of CR professionals—10 percent—have only worked in the CR area during their career; and that 84 percent of respondents feel their job stability has improved or remained the same over the last year.
