CIBC Mellon has released its 2010 Corporate Social Responsibility Review. The report focuses on the company’s achievements in five areas: community, environmental sustainability, governance and ethics, clients and products, and employees. Among the highlights are contributions of $800,000 to 130 nonprofit organizations, decreasing paper use to 35 percent below the company’s baseline 2007 year, and supporting employees in giving 5,800 volunteer hours.
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is partnering with the National Sustainability Coalition and the International Sustainability Institute of Applied Sciences to establish a Center of Sustainability Excellence. The program will begin with an eight-hour online course that provides an overview of the business case for sustainable development. Students who complete this prerequisite e-course earn one credit hour and qualify to sign up for an entire sustainability program consisting of seven additional accredited courses being offered this summer.
