CNH Industrial N.V., is an environmentally aware company, and understands the importance of reverse logistics. Through its Aftermarket Solutions division, the Company partnered with Abrafiltros (Brazilian Association of Automotive and Industrial Filter Companies), to ensure the proper disposal of used oil filters.

In under a year, some 20,000 used fuel oil filters were collected and sent for recycling. This is equivalent to some 13,000kg of filters.

“Our goal is ensure that this ‘used’ material, is given a second lease of life in a different sphere, thereby preventing waste from going to landfills with the associated negative environmental impact,” said Fábio Belasco, South American Environment, Health and Safety Manager, CNH Industrial.

Abrafiltros, through cooperatives, periodically collects and disposes of the filters at dedicated facilities. After being collected, the material is sorted and washed, then sent for recycling.

“The Descarte Consciente Abrafiltros program is meeting the environmental legislation of São Paulo Statae. Today, we anticipate recycling over 18 million used automotive lubricating oil filters, fulfilling the goals established in the Terms of Commitment of each state where it is implemented,” said João Moura, President. “CNH Industrial is contributing to these numbers, as it is among the associated companies participating in the program.”

This initiative forms part of CNH Industrial’s wider commitment to recycling. In 2019 the Company recycled 99.72% of waste generated by its operations in Brazil.
