PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill., July 17, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Pinckneyville Community High School and the Pinckneyville Public Library are the recipients of two special fundraisers, courtesy of Knapp Oil Company and CITGO Petroleum Corporation along with special guest Miss Illinois, Crystal Davis. On Friday, July 17, for every gallon of gas pumped during the grand opening of the new CITGO location at 5728 State Road, Knapp Oil will donate 20 cents to the Pinckneyville Community High School Athletic Program. As an added bonus, high school athletes will be at the station pumping gas for customers throughout the day. Free food and drinks will be available from local vendors.

Miss Illinois will appear at the CITGO station between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to thank customers for their participation. Prior to that, she will be reading to elementary school children from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ on 204 East Jackson Street to promote the Pinckneyville Public Library’s iREAD Summer Reading Program. CITGO will donate $1.00 to the Pinckneyville Public Library for every Club CITGO mobile application downloaded at the station during the grand opening event. The Club CITGO app is a loyalty program giving customers with iPhone and Android phones access to in-store deals, rewards and daily specials. To download the Club CITGO mobile app, smartphone users can go to www.fuelinggood.com/club-citgo.

“It’s very exciting to see this level of support from CITGO and Knapp Oil,” said Miss Illinois Crystal Davis. “Hosting these events and providing such a generous contribution allows us to demonstrate the importance of reading and education to local youth while also instilling a sense of community for individuals of all ages.”

Fundraising for the Pinckneyville Public Library is just one way that CITGO supports education. From July 13 through October 18, CITGO will donate more than $1,000 every week to teachers around the country to purchase school supplies for their classrooms.
