WASHINGTON, D.C., May 1, 2013 /3BL Media/ -- CDC Development Solutions (CDS) announces the promotion of Harry Pastuszek to Vice President for Enterprise and Community Development. Joining the organization from Bechtel Corporation, as well as The World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation, Mr. Pastuszek’s combined experience in extractives, international finance, corporate citizenship, and the nonprofit sector makes him a true asset to CDS’ senior management team and the delivery of its services.  He joined CDS last year as Practice Leader for Local Content Development.

“As our portfolio continues to grow,” says Mr. Pastuszek, “we will look to play a role in the more efficient and intelligent joining of business and international aid agency strategies for the benefit of enterprise and community development.” As Vice President for Enterprise and Community Development, Mr. Pastuszek will oversee CDS’ local content development initiatives, as well as the organization’s work in traditional community development and small to medium size enterprise capacity building.

As private investment in emerging and frontier markets increases, these types of initiatives are becoming more critical in achieving development benefits. Through CDS’ work in traditional community and enterprise development, local organizations gain opportunities for professional training and consulting services, as well as access to markets, technology and finance.

For companies that are now investing in emerging markets and confronted by the challenge of developing local content, CDS’ local content development services close the gap between the abilities of local suppliers and the product and service needs of multinational corporations.  Local contractors and organizations gain the ability to successfully contract with major corporations – thus supporting jobs creation and economic growth.  At the same time, corporations gain an improved understanding of local markets with clearer, more effective strategies to enhance local contracting and procurement.

Under Mr. Pastuszek’s leadership, CDS will continue to explore synergies between these two areas to support economic development in emerging and frontier markets.

Mr. Pastuszek spoke at last year’s 2012 Global Local Content Seminar in London and the African Oil and Gas Summit in Vienna. His recent writings have been published in the oil and gas journal, Petroleum Africa, as well as Investors’ Voice.
