Students at Pequea Valley High School in Kinzers, Pennsylvania have access to new hands-on learning opportunities thanks to support from CNH Industrial (NYSE: CNHI/MI: CNHI). A grant from the CNH Industrial Foundation has enabled the high school to open a new laboratory to support its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program.

The new facility is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) lab – PLCs play a leading role in how virtually all electrical devices function – and will help expose students to more interactive STEM learning opportunities and career possibilities.

Supporting students and investing in the future of local communities is a key commitment at CNH Industrial, and the company is passionate about advancing educational opportunities for young people in various ways, such as the annual Educational Grants Program. Through this program, only four grants are available each year of up to $25,000 per grant, and recipients are selected from applications received from across Canada and the United States.

Although the STEM team at CNH Industrial’s New Holland facility is highly involved with local public education in the New Holland/Lancaster County area, this is the first time this involvement is accompanied by a substantial monetary investment at this level. The company hopes its support will evolve into a long-term relationship with the Pequea Valley School District.

STEM-related knowledge and skills are central to many great career opportunities in modern manufacturing, including those at CNH Industrial. It’s an industry that’s changing rapidly, becoming increasingly high tech to include digitalization and automation – fields that are drivers of innovation and require workers to have a solid understanding of disciplines taught as part of the STEM curriculum.

CNH Industrial manufactures and markets agricultural and construction equipment under its Case IH, New Holland Agriculture, Case Construction and New Holland Construction brands as well as powertrains for FPT Industrial in North America.
