RESTON, Virginia, March 9, 2016 /3BL Media/ — Bechtel today announced that it will receive the U.S. President’s Volunteer Services Bronze Award this evening in New York City for contributing more than 5,000 volunteer hours in support of Junior Achievement programs.

Bechtel’s support mostly focused on JA’s Building Future Leaders initiative, which seeks to increase the number of students around the world who learn entrepreneurship and participate in work-readiness programs.

“We’re thrilled to have had nearly 400 volunteers reach more than 15,000 students through Junior Achievement,” said Charlene Wheeless, principal vice president of Global Corporate Affairs at Bechtel. “Our employees enthusiastically give their time and talents to support JA programs and other corporate social responsibility initiatives that include science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, improving the lives of others through engineering and construction, and sustainability.”

In addition to Junior Achievement, Bechtel supports other non-profit organizations through its Signature Partner programs, which includes FIRST ®, DiscoverE, and Engineers Without Borders.
