Arrow Electronics was a Visionary Sponsor of the 2016 Collegiate Inventors Competition, an annual competition recognizing and rewarding innovation, held earlier this month at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, headquartered outside of Washington, D.C.

“Arrow is proud to sponsor this great competition and all of the inspiring engineers, designers and makers who compete,” said Alex West, manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Arrow.

Graduate and undergraduate finalists in the competition present their research and prototypes to some of the most influential inventors and innovation experts in the nation, including National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees and representatives from sponsors USPTO and AbbVie Foundation. A panel of expert judges selects top winners in graduate and undergraduate divisions.

The Collegiate Inventors Competition was founded in 1990 to recognize and reward top collegiate inventors from all fields of study. Operated by the nonprofit Invent Now and the National Inventors Hall of Fame, the competition showcases emerging student ideas and technologies that will shape our society in the near future.

The competition specifically recognizes and rewards the innovations, discoveries and research led by university students and their advisors for projects leading to inventions that may have the potential of receiving patent protection. Since its inception, the competition has awarded more than $1 million to winning students for their innovative work and scientific achievement through the help of its sponsors.
