Campaign: The Purple Purse

February 4, 2013 /3BL Media/ - The YWCA in Chicago was one of 14 local affiliates that partnered with The Allstate Foundation for the Purple Purse campaign that raised $15,000 for domestic violence services in the local community for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Allstate Foundation put the power into Americans' hands with the Purple Purse, the Foundation's symbol for domestic violence, to help break the cycle of abuse.

"We're thrilled that so many purple purses have been passed in Chicago as a part of The Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse campaign," said Delia Diaz, a Chicago-based Allstate Exclusive Financial Specialist. "These purses serve as a strong visual reminder of how important financial empowerment is to breaking the cycle of violence. By raising awareness, we are helping save lives and changing the conversation around domestic violence."

Hundreds of purple purses filled with domestic violence information were distributed throughout the U.S. during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Allstate Foundation donated $10 each time a purse was passed and checked in on PurplePurse.com. The campaign raised a total of $250,000 for domestic violence services around the country.

"Domestic and sexual violence are still tough subjects for our society to address," explained Pamela Bozeman-Evans, Interim CEO with YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. "The Allstate Foundation has demonstrated considerable courage in the anti-violence movement in Chicago and across the country. We hope other companies will follow their lead."
