BOISE, Idaho, October 9, 2018 /3BL Media/ - To bolster the public’s awareness about flu vaccinations and the fact that many insurance plans will cover most or all of the cost, Albertsons Companies pharmacies have fully revamped their informational consumer flu websites with new features, easier navigation, and interactive tools this flu season.

The online campaign is designed to make it easy to learn about the flu and the free or low-cost accessibility of vaccines. It also serves as an additional education tool for pharmacy teams when helping patients make the best health decision for themselves and their families. The new websites include information like flu facts vs. myths, an interactive tool to determine the best flu shot for each individual, and a CDC map showing live flu outbreaks across the U.S. as they are reported.

“We strive to create partnerships with our patients. We’re here to answer their questions and provide health services and products so they benefit from a collective approach to being and staying healthy. The new flu websites are just one more way we can help people find accessible and reliable health information when making those decisions,” said Mark Panzer, Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Health and Wellness.

The educational flu websites can be found at the following locations:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months and older, with rare exceptions, get an annual flu vaccination as soon as it is available. Vaccinations help protect individuals and those around them from possible severe symptoms, flu-related complications, and hospitalization. With up to 20% of Americans getting sick with the flu annually, flu vaccination early in the flu season continues to provide the best protection.

All vaccines permitted per state can be administered on a “walk-in” basis with no appointment necessary and are offered at more than 1,700 Albertsons Companies pharmacies. Most insurance plans cover the flu shot and other immunizations at 100%. Everyone who receives an immunization will also receive a coupon for 10% off a grocery purchase, where permitted by law.
