Xylem Volunteers Participate in a “Run 4 Water” in Veterans Park, Milwaukee
Two Xylem offices partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee chapter of Engineers Without Borders to raise funds and awareness of water issues at the “Run 4 Water” on April 30, 2017. Participants ran, walked or volunteered to assist during a 5K while carrying buckets of water to symbolize the distance that women and children around the world must travel to access water. The event provided Xylem employees with an opportunity to experience in some small capacity how difficult it is for so many people around the world to access water and to learn how other organizations are impacting water safety.
Xylem’s contribution will largely impact the funding for future water projects undertaken by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s student chapter of Engineers Without Borders. In addition, local water companies competed for the best attendance at this event, and Xylem tied with another agency for the largest number of volunteers present. Xylem’s leadership in this event with such a large number of attendees showed the many other local water and wastewater companies in Milwaukee that they are here to support a common cause.
