FISHERS, Ind., December 27, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Land Betterment Corporation (“Land Betterment” or the “Company”), an environmental solutions company fostering positive impact through upcycling former coal mining and industrial sites to create sustainable community development and job creation, announced that through the early success of Operation ekō Christmas, which provided four fully-operational ekō homes in four days to a Kentucky community devastated by recent tornados, has established a charitable foundation through the Community Foundation of West Kentucky (“CFWK”) to receive donations to broaden their relief efforts. Upon the establishment of the ekō Villages of Hope, Land Betterment has received an overwhelming response from people and organizations that want to help after seeing the quick and positive impact the ekō Villages of Hope is having on the community’s relief.

Mark Jensen, Executive Chairman of Land Betterment commented, “The week leading up to Christmas has been an incredible experience. Though, the damage left behind from the tornados is so severe, it has been really inspiring to see the humanitarian response help in this time of need. We knew that with so much loss, housing was one of the biggest problems for the community, and our ekō homes could provide an extremely efficient solution. We are so thankful to be able to help and support the Dawson Springs community and for all the help we received from others to get our first ekō Villages of Hope up and running. Given the tremendous response from people wanting to contribute to the Villages of Hope, we’ve set up a platform to allow them to do just that. Better yet, we have also received a generous contribution to match the first $154,000 raised through the CFWK and the ekō Villages of Hope Fund. This alone will allow us to build upon the early success and put 12 additional families in homes for a year, free of charge.”

Land Betterment with its partner, CSI, has been building ekō homes to provide a more sustainable and better quality of home versus the traditional trailer or small-home environment. Land Betterment’s ekō housing division is developing community villages that offer residents with sustainable, high-end, cost-effective container-based homes designed to bring a new, safe and more efficient housing option to the Appalachian region’s transitioning economy. The ekō housing solution is powerful across many fronts as exemplified by its Villages of Hope’s disaster and crisis relief. Also, the flexibility and efficiency of the ekō platform allows for the rapid deployment of various dwellings beyond housing such as medical units, support units allowing internet connectivity, community kitchens and mobile offices.
