Arrow Electronics Sponsors 2017 Colorado Women in Technology Conference; Meg Whitman as Featured Speaker
CENTENNIAL, Col., June 21, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Arrow Electronics was again presenting sponsor of the annual Colorado Women in Technology Conference, a full-day retreat celebrating women across Colorado’s growing tech community. The featured keynote speaker was Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, who was introduced by Arrow CEO Mike Long.
Ms. Whitman, who is also a former CEO of eBay and a past California political candidate, spoke about the future of global business and what’s coming next in tech. Highlights of her remarks included a prediction that the “future belongs to the fast,” and a forecast for more artificial intelligence and machine learning within company data centers. Whitman also emphasized that companies need to continue putting their customers first and to believe in the power of partnerships.
For his part, Mr. Long spoke about how innovation and diversity contribute to business success, saying: “Successful partnerships are diverse. They include individuals from different backgrounds, different companies, different races, genders and beliefs. It is my firm belief that if we’re ever going to have a chance at partnering to solve the world’s problems, we’re going to need broader diversity than ever before. That means we need more women in technology. That starts here, and it starts now.”
The event, sponsored by the Colorado Technology Association (CTA), was held June 8 at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colo. More than 700 women tech leaders from across Colorado’s tech community attended. Twenty-eight Arrow employees participated, including Kristin Russell, global president of Arrow Intelligent Systems and current Chair of the CTA Board of Directors.
